Upgrade Bank advertises direct deposit capability on their XXXX XXXX account with a 3.5 % apy. Unable to set up direct deposit for over a month and a half and having repeatedly been lied to that since this is a new product, they are trying to iron out a glitch, Im finally being told today that direct deposit is not a feature available with this particular savings account and that I can only deposit funds via bank transfer. This is despite the fact that on the companys own website, there is an FAQ page explaining how to set up direct deposit on this type of account. When confronted with this discrepancy the phone representative mentioned that she would check with upper management. This is beyond deceptive and needs to be addressed to people dont open accounts and get misled by greedy banks.

On XX/XX/XXXX, I applied for a rewards checking account and a credit card with Upgrade. Through XXXX XXXX there was an advertised bonus for {$500.00} if both were opened and XXXX transactions were completed with the debit card that came with the checking account. The checking account was approved that day, but the credit card was not approved until 8 days later. After completing the terms of the agreement and contacting Upgrade customer service they stated that I now had to use the credit card for a few months in order to receive the bonus. I completed those terms and paid the monthly bill on time for multiple consecutive months.
On XX/XX/XXXX, I again contacted customer service asking why the promotional offer had not been honored. The customer service agent stated that because the checking account and credit card were not opened on the same day that the offer would not be honored. The credit card was not approved until 8 days later, even though that was the product that I had applied for first.
Upgrade is refusing to pay out a promotional offer with deceptive practices. The accounts were opened in the order which the terms stated, but by not approving the credit card days later they can avoid paying out the promotions.
