Complaint What Happened On or about XX/XX/XXXX I received a collection letter from Rossi Law Office, LTD on a collection for a XXXX bill dated XX/XX/XXXX from XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. On this same day I called XXXX XXXX regarding this letter and bill from over 2 years ago. I spoke to a woman in the billling department regarding this letter as I have never received a bill or notification that money was owed. I was told this debt was sent to this Law Firm awhile ago, and was directed to call the Law Offices. I then called the Rossi Law Offices and spoke with a woman who claimed they have had this file for " almost a year ''. At this point I am beyond overwhelmed, scared and confused of a bill of almost {$6000.00}. In my fear I quickly made a payment arrangement to avoid legal actions. I am legally XXXX and live on a fixed income and now widowed. This is where this bill is coming from, on the date of service My XXXX was XXXX in a XXXX XXXX. My XXXX had insurance and this would have been paid with all remaining bills. After speaking to several people regarding this bill, I was told to contact the CFPB. Something is definitly off with this whole situation. I was assured this was all taken care of and have never seen a bill since?

Complaint What Happened I received a collection notice in the mail from XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX, XXXX ) regarding a past due debt for motor vehicle excise tax to the City of XXXX, RI from XXXX XXXX XXXX. In XXXX I was leasing a vehicle ( XXXX ) so I didnt believe I owed the debt. The total debt was {$910.00} which included vehicle tax of {$490.00} and interest of XXXX. On XX/XX/XXXX I contacted XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) and spoke to XXXX. XXXX let me know that this debt collection was for tax year XXXX but for a XXXX XXXX which was a car I had owned but I traded it in in XXXX for the XXXX XXXX. So again, I didnt feel I owed the debt since I didnt own the XXXX in XXXX. Further I expressed concern to XXXX that this letter from his law office for a debt collection was the first notification I had received about this past due vehicle excise tax debt and the interest that had been accumulating for XXXX years! XXXX advised that due to XXXX XXXX Laws there was nothing he could do other than accept the payment from me. I told XXXX that I wanted to dispute the debt collection because I didnt feel I owed it and I felt the 7 years of accumulated interest was unfair. I also submitted a dispute on the XXXX XXXX website. I then contacted the XXXX of XXXX XXXX XXXX ( XXXX ) and spoke to XXXX. I told her I spoke to XXXX and expressed my concerns to her as I did XXXX. XXXX corrected what XXXX had told me and confirmed the tax year for the debt was actually XXXX. I went online to get my bank statements to evidence that I had paid the vehicle tax on the XXXX, since I did own it in XXXX, but because that was so long ago I couldnt retrieve bank statements so old. I asked XXXX why I was just receiving a notice about this debt from XXXXXXXX XXXX years later she confirmed that XXXX notices had been sent to me, XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX and XXXX in XX/XX/XXXX, which I never received. However, I did pay motor vehicle excise tax to the City of XXXX for XXXX XXXX XXXX ( bought out the XXXX lease ) AND I registered XXXX cars between XXXX and XXXX ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX that I have now ) and was never told I had past due vehicle taxes owed. The city never applied my vehicle tax payments for the tax year XXXX ( XXXX ) to the past due amount from XXXX ( XXXX ) or even marked my account/bill as unpaid taxes due to alert me. I received no communication about past due vehicles taxes for XXXX years and in my opinion the XXXX of XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX practice is unfair because interest accumulates each month the payment remains past due now I am required to pay XXXX years worth of interest on top of the past due amount. I am not able to obtain the bank statement evidence to prove I paid the {$490.00} of vehicle tax for the XXXX XXXX for tax year XXXX since that is XXXX years ago and I feel the accumulation of 7 years of interest ( {$410.00} ) on this debt is completely unfair and the practice is deceptive ( allowing me to pay current tax in XXXX but not applying it to past due amount OR alerting me of that past due amount ), so I would like to make a UDAAP complaint for the total debt amount ( {$910.00} ) and I would like any negative marks on my credit report due to this debt to be removed please.

Complaint What Happened I received a bill from Rossi Law Offices , LTD in the amount of {$41.00}. I sent out payment immediately as they were claiming to be collecting a debt for the City of XXXX XXXX. Payment was mailed by check the first week of XXXX in the amount of {$41.00}. The so called law office failed to cash the check and has now sent a bill for a slightly different higher amount. This debt was a debt that my ex-wife should have paid as a result of our divorce. This debt collector is playing games. It appears I will need to put a stop payment on this check and who knows what they did with it. A quick search on the internet demonstrates this is their MO.
