Unique Entity ID

A UEI is a government-provided number, like a tax ID number, that’s used to identify businesses eligible for federal grants, awards and contracts.

Note: In April 2022, the federal government replaced its old identifier of choice, the Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number, with a government-issued UEI. Now all the federal government’s Integrated Award Environment systems use UEI numbers instead of DUNS numbers. So any entity doing business with the federal government must register for a UEI.

COMMUNITY PROJECT FUNDING/CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING - CONSTRUCTION - DAY ONE WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE OFFICE OF U.S. SENATOR SHELDON WHITEHOUSE FOR RECOMMENDING THIS REQUEST FOR FY2024 CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING (CDS) FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $273,000. THE AGENCY WILL USE CDS CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS FUNDING TO MAKE CRITICAL IMPROVEMENTS TO OUR PHYSICAL PLANT TO MEET OUR END GOAL OF ENHANCING THE PROVISION OF A TRAUMA-INFORMED ADVOCACY AND CLINICAL TREATMENT SERVICES TO VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT, ABUSE, AND EXPLOITATION. THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS INCLUDE REPOINTING 25% OF THE BRICK EXTERIOR OF THE BUILDING, AS WELL AS PAINTING AND REFLOORING THE INTERIOR OF THE FACILITY (ALL SPACES ON FIRST AND SECOND FLOORS; COMMON AREAS ONLY IN THE BASEMENT). BUILT IN 1950, DAY ONE'S FACILITY AT 100 MEDWAY STREET IN PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND, WAS LAST REHABILITATED WHEN THE AGENCY PURCHASED THE PROPERTY IN 2006. ROUTINE MAINTENANCE OF THE PROPERTY SINCE THEN HAS ENSURED OPTIMUM CONDITION OF THE BUILDING AND ITS IMMEDIATE ENVIRONMENT. NEARLY TWO DECADES SINCE ITS LAST MAJOR OVERHAUL, HOWEVER, THE FACILITY IS IN NEED OF SOME MAJOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS. AND SO, DAY ONE STARTED MAKING UPGRADES TO OUR PHYSICAL PLANT TO ENHANCE BOTH ITS ENERGY EFFICIENCY AS WELL AS ITS AESTHETICS. WITH GENEROUS FISCAL YEAR 2022 CDS FUNDING, SECURED THROUGH SENATOR WHITEHOUSE’S OFFICE, WE LAUNCHED THE OVERHAUL OF THE BUILDING, STARTING WITH THE REPLACEMENT OF ALL 57 WINDOWS AND OUR AGING BOILERS. OUR NEXT STEP IS TO REPOINT THE EXTERIOR OF THE BUILDING AND TO REPAINT AND REFLOOR THE INTERIOR. THESE IMPROVEMENTS WILL CREATE ENERGY AND COST EFFICIENCIES, AS WELL AS HEALTH BENEFITS, THAT ULTIMATELY, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, WILL BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY THROUGH IMPROVED PROVISION OF THE HIGHLY SPECIALIZED TRAUMA-INFORMED SERVICES DAY ONE OFFERS TO CHILD AND ADULT VICTIMS OF SEXUAL VIOLENCE, NON-OFFENDING FAMILY AND HOUSEHOLD MEMBERS, AND THOSE COLLATERALLY AFFECTED BY THE VICTIMIZATION.
